Car accident leaves Louisiana child in critical condition

| Dec 10, 2016 | Car Accidents

Motor vehicle accidents are, at best, an upsetting and scary ordeal. Few crashes, though, are as devastating and frightening as those involving serious injury to a child. Sadly, just such a car accident took place in Louisiana on the afternoon of Thursday, Dec. 1.

A car crash in Baton Rouge involving multiple vehicles occurred that day at approximately 4:20 p.m. Multiple vehicles collided at the intersection of Corlett Drive and Hooper Road. The crash injured three people and left a child in critical condition.

The initial information released about the crash was sparse. A news crew was reporting en route to the scene of the accident, but follow-up details were not immediately available. Deputies from the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Department Louisiana State troopers were all at the scene, and an investigation was evidently underway. The public was urged to check social media sites such as Twitter and Facebook for updates.

If an investigation indicates apparent fault on the part of any of the drivers involved in the car accident, the injured child’s family may choose to pursue a claim for monetary relief. An attorney with experience in cases involving motor vehicle accidents can advise the family as to their legal options for filing a personal injury lawsuit against the party or parties believed to have been negligent. Damages awarded in a successfully presented case can be used toward – among other expenses – medical costs and the inevitable wages lost due to family members caring for the injured child.
