Officials are attempting to determine whether three men suffered fatal injuries in a wreck on Louisiana Highway 182 due to one driver's impairment. Toxicology samples were taken from those involved in order to make that determination, which means it could be some time before the final report regarding the cause of the car accident is issued. Until then, the families who lost loved ones will most likely be busy burying their loved ones.
Preliminary reports indicate that the driver of the car somehow lost control of it as it traveled westbound on the highway at approximately 2:30 a.m. on a Wednesday morning. It careened into the eastbound lane where it slammed into a pickup truck. The impact was not enough to stop the car, however, and it went on to slam into a tractor-trailer.
The three men in the car were all thrown out of the vehicle during the crash. Each of them suffered fatal injuries, and all were pronounced dead by authorities at the scene. The driver of the pickup truck and the driver of the 18-wheeler both suffered only minor injuries.
The families of the passengers involved in this deadly car accident might exercise their rights to file wrongful death claims against the party or parties believed to be responsible for the deaths of the victims. If the evidence establishes that negligence caused or contributed to the deaths of their loved ones, a Louisiana court could order damages to be paid to surviving family members. Any monetary damages received could help with the expenses and other damages that are often incurred when a loved one dies prematurely.
