Family faces the unexpected loss of a loved one in crash

Far too many Louisiana families understand the heartbreak that comes with hearing that a loved one died in a car accident. The unexpected loss of a loved one is often devastating. This is especially true if that loss came due to the wrongful acts of another person.

This kind of heartbreak is what the family of one Louisiana woman may be going through. A 45-year-old woman was traveling west on Louisiana Highway 20 at approximately 11 a.m. on a recent Wednesday. At the same time, a 40-year-old woman was driving east toward the other woman.

For a reason not yet revealed by police, as the woman crested a bridge, she crossed over into the oncoming lane and directly into the path of the westbound victim's vehicle. The two vehicles collided head on with enough force to take the lives of both women. The deaths were pronounced at the scene.

The family of the victim is left to wonder what happened to cause the other driver to veer into the lane in which their loved one was traveling. It may be possible to get some answers through the filing of a wrongful death claim against the estate of the eastbound driver. If a civil court is presented with appropriate evidence of her negligence, a judgment for monetary damages may be awarded. Any funds received may not lessen the pain that comes with the unexpected loss of a loved one, but they might help with the financial issues that inevitably arise in the aftermath of a fatal car accident.
