Toxicology results pending in fatal car accident

The authorities say this was the result in one car accident that recently occurred on Louisiana 2.

Driver due to be sentenced in alcohol-related car accident

In Jan. 2012, a vehicle driven by a man under the influence struck two bicycle riders in Louisiana. A jury convicted the driver of homicide by vehicle and vehicular negligent injuring in the first degree last October. In advance of his sentencing on March 18 in connection with the alcohol-related car accident, the judge allowed the surviving cyclist to testify early because he now lives out-of-state and will not be able to appear at the sentencing hearing.

Serious accidents can be caused by an invisible hazard -- tires

A year ago this February, a horrendous crash took the lives of four people and injured nearly 30 others. The cause of the accident was the failure of an SUV's tires, which were 10 years old. Now, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is cautioning drivers throughout the country, including in Louisiana, that aging tires can cause serious accidents.
