Louisiana car accident causes serious injuries

Driving after dark is unlike driving during the daylight hours. Most Louisiana drivers already know that the landscape and known landmarks look quite different at night. Whether it is due to low light levels or glare caused by car headlights, driving at night presents a multitude of potential dangers. Any of these issues has the potential to cause a serious or fatal car accident.

A recent accident that took place in the Big Easy might demonstrate this point. However, due to the limited amount of information released by the Louisiana State Police during their ongoing investigation, it might be some time before a clear picture of the actual events is known. According to preliminary reports, a car slammed into the rear end of a dump truck.

The crash occurred after 1 a.m. on Interstate 10. Somewhere between Bonnabel Boulevard exit near New Orleans and the interchange with Interstate 610 in the east bound lane is where the car hit the truck. Although serious injuries were reported, the number of those injured, the extent of their injuries and their current conditions are not yet available.

Many questions will be answered after the Louisiana State Police concludes its investigation into this car accident. If the driver of the dump truck is found to have been at fault, then those injured parties may file personal injury claims against the driver of the truck and his employer, who could be held culpable for damages -- including medical expenses -- needed for a full recovery. If the driver of the car is found to have been at fault, then the passengers and the driver of the truck may file personal injury claims against the driver of the car, seeking the aforementioned damages and any others allowed under state law.
