Louisiana woman victim of fatal car accident

| Jul 24, 2014 | Car Accidents

The loss of a loved one is always a difficult experience, especially when the death is sudden and unexpected. One family has recently had to endure this kind of tragedy when a woman was killed in a car accident. The wreck involved two vehicles, resulted in two other people also suffering injuries and has Louisiana authorities still working to determine the cause.

The fatal accident was reported in the early afternoon hours of a recent Thursday. It occurred when a passenger car driven by a woman was traveling west down Shady Grove Boulevard. As the driver attempted to cross over the Arthur Ray Teague Parkway in order to head in a southerly direction, her vehicle was reportedly struck by a pickup truck.

The driver and her passenger were transported via ambulance to a hospital, where the driver was later declared deceased. Her passenger suffered less serious injuries. The driver of the truck was also taken for medical care. The nature and extent of his injures were not disclosed. Louisiana police have not completed their investigation and have not stated whether any charges will be filed.

It is not believed that intoxicating substances contributed to this fatal car accident. If the truck driver is found to have been liable for this accident, the surviving passenger may elect to file a personal injury suit against the driver. Likewise, the family of the deceased woman may file a wrongful death suit. Conversely, if the woman driver was at fault, the other driver and/or the passenger could file against the woman’s estate. The purpose of such litigation would be to attempt to recoup financial damages in the event liability can be determined.
