It is safe to say that most Louisiana drivers know the importance of paying attention to the road while driving. The moment that a driver's gaze is not on what is in front of him or her, a car accident can happen. This is especially true when negotiating curves. Unfortunately, one Louisiana woman was unable to control her vehicle through a curve and a multiple car accident was the result.
According to Louisiana State Police, the 33-year-old woman was driving a pickup truck travelling eastbound on Highway 674 when she veered too far left through a curve and crossed the into the opposing lane of traffic. The woman hit the side of one car and continued on to hit yet another vehicle. The driver of the pickup suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
Emergency personnel transported the drivers of the vehicles she hit to an area hospital. Surprisingly, they were both hospitalized for seemingly minor injuries. The current condition of the surviving drivers is unknown at this time.
It is unfortunate that the driver of the pickup truck was killed in a car accident police say she caused. Luckily, no one else was killed in the process. Under Louisiana law, the surviving drivers may file personal injury claims against the estate of the driver of the pickup truck for damages incurred because of the crash. Damages in the form of financial restitution may be awarded if the parties are able to prove the party deemed responsible was negligent and her actions caused or contributed to their injuries.
