Louisiana State Police investigate fatal car accident

Louisiana drivers are usually aware that it is their responsibility to be constantly vigilant while driving in order to avoid an accident. Despite this, many multiple vehicle accidents are caused by a driver that somehow fails to yield the right-of-way to another vehicle. The Louisiana State Police suspect that this may have been the cause of a recent car accident.

A pickup truck was traveling west on Highway 100 when it reached the intersection of that highway and Highway 91. The driver of that vehicle began making a left hand turn onto Highway 91. When it did so, it ended up directly in the path of another vehicle.

The pickup truck slammed into the passenger's side of the other vehicle. An 82-year-old passenger in the SUV hit by the pickup truck suffered fatal injuries during the crash. Any injuries suffered by the drivers in this crash were not reported. It is also not known if the elderly woman was the only passenger in the SUV. The investigation into this accident is ongoing and is being conducted by the Louisiana State Police.

It has not yet been reported whether the driver of the pickup truck will face charges in connection with this fatal car accident. However, that does not mean that the driver will not face civil action from the deceased victim's family. There is no amount of money that can replace a family member, but filing a wrongful death claim may help the family with damages they have sustained as a result of her premature death and give them a sense of closure and peace with her tragic loss.
