Injuries in motorcycle accidents can be debilitating or fatal

The fact is that accidents are unpredictable. As such, there is no way to know what harm will come to any Louisiana residents involved. However, the injuries in car vs. motorcycle accidents tend to be more debilitating or fatal for the motorcycle rider than for those in passenger vehicles.

In many cases, this means that the motorcycle rider will spend more time in recovery with no guarantee that the victim's life will ever be the same -- if he or she survives the injuries at all. During that time, the victim and/or the family will undoubtedly incur significant expenses and other damages. If the injury results in some permanent disability, those damages will continue to be incurred.

If the injuries were due to the negligence of another, it might be possible to receive restitution from the party or parties believed responsible. In the majority of accidents involving a motorcycle, the driver of the other vehicle was following too closely, or failed to give the motorcyclist the right-of-way. Many drivers will tell authorities that they did not see the smaller vehicle prior to the impact, if even then. That fact does not necessarily release those drivers from any liability in connection with the crash.

If you or a loved one were the victim of a car vs. motorcycle accident, it would be in your best interest to contact an attorney as soon after the crash as possible. Establishing negligence will require that the appropriate evidence be presented to a Louisiana civil court. If the court rules that negligence caused the injuries the victim suffered, damages often seen in other motorcycle accidents could be awarded.
