Woman killed in Louisiana car accident

There are many potential dangers that Louisiana residents may face throughout the day and not even realize it. These could range from stubbing your toe on the coffee table to a horrific car accident. There may not be anything more terrifying, however, than staring death in the face during a head-on collision.

A head-on collision is not always a death sentence. Many victims of straightforward or head-on crashes survive, but the odds are not always in their favor. It is the unavoidable nature of this kind of accident that can cause some drivers to freeze in the sight of oncoming headlights.

This may have been the case when a Gonzales woman was killed in St. James Parrish on Louisiana Highway 70. According to Louisiana State Police, an unknown car crossed the center median for reasons unknown and slammed into the decedent's car head-on. The woman driver was flown, via helicopter, to an area hospital with what were likely life-threatening injuries; the victim later died due to the injuries that she suffered from the crash. While authorities continue their investigation into this fatal car accident, some details may become clear.

It is always unfortunate when someone dies because of another person's negligent actions. This car accident could have been avoided if the other driver had not swerved into the victim's path. The family of the deceased driver may now wish to file a wrongful death claim against the other driver. Any monetary restitution awarded could help cover the unanticipated costs of the sudden death of a loved one.
